Cabela's Opening First Store in Massachusetts

Jun 06, 2013

SCARBOROUGH - Cabela’s, the Nebraska-based hunting, fishing and outdoors retailer, is opening a new location in Hudson/Berlin. The store will be the company’s first in Massachusetts. “Our many loyal customers across Massachusetts have supported Cabela’s for many years through our catalogs, website and other retail locations,” said Tommy Millner, Cabela’s Chief Executive Officer. “Now those outdoorsmen and women will have a store to call their own. For that, we are incredibly excited.” The store, which will employ about 200 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees, will be located in the southeast quadrant of Interstate 495 and Central Street in the Highland Commons Shopping Center, being developed by Benderson Development. Highland Commons already is the home of BJ’s Wholesale Club, Lowe’s Home Improvement and Market Basket. The company said construction of the 88,000-square-foot store is expected to start next spring and the store is scheduled to open in spring 2015. The Berlin location will feature log construction, a large replica of a mountain with stuffed animal displays, a gun library and fudge shop. The company said the design will reflect Cabela’s “next-generation layout.” Cabela’s currently has 44 stores in North America and plans to add 16 more in the next two years.
